Author of The Trombone: An Annotated Bibliography (1999), one other book, articles in refereed journals and academic papers on various aspects of music. Specializations include American music, music bibliography, and sightsinging and ear training. Founder and editor, Newsletter of the International Trombone Association (1972-1976). Devotee of Sherlock Holmes, presiding officer of The Hansom Wheels (scion society of the Baker Street Irregulars).

  • Daniel Albertson (PR) -- Self-trained composer and writer on music, specializing in 20th- and 21st-century classical music and its composers. His passions outside of music include astronomy, crossword puzzles and fine art, among other things. He is the creator of The Living Composers Project (2000), an online database now holding information on 600+ contemporary composers and since 2002, has been a repertoire advisor to the Studio for New Music in New York.   • Joseph Brumbeloe (PR) -- holds a Ph.D. in music theory from Indiana University, and currently teaches at the University of Southern Mississippi. His research interests include the theory and literature of the 18th century, as well as 20th century methodologies and music, including jazz. His research has been published in The New Groves Dictionary of Music and Musicians; Theoria; Music Theory: Explorations and Applications; Gamut; and The Indiana Theory Review. Additionally, he has delivered papers to meetings of the Society of Music Theory, the College Music Society, the 4th and 5th International Festival of Women Composers, and has prepared critical editions for Kallisti Press.

  • Susanne Dunlap (PR) -- Susanne Dunlap received her PhD in music history from Yale University in 1999, and was a visiting assistant professor at Columbia University for the 1999-2000 academic year. She has an article forthcoming in the journal Women and Music, "Susanna and the Male Gaze: the Musical Iconography of a Baroque Heroine," and has written radio programs and Web articles about baroque music. Dr. Dunlap is currently director of marketing and PR for Connecticu t Opera.

Publications include articles on the classical string quartet and Luigi Boccherini, a critical edition of sonatas for cello and basso by Carlo Graziani, and History of Western Music in Outlines and Tables. She is currently working on a study of the string quartet during the second half of the eighteenth century. She has delivered papers on the Prussian Court under Friedrich Wilhelm II, Carlo Graziani, and the classical string quartet at both local and international conferences.

  • Suzanne Summerville (PR) -- Suzanne Summerville, mezzo-soprano and conductor, received her Dr. phil. in Historical Musicology from Berlin's Freie Universität. As a singer, she was a member the Studio der deutschen Oper Berlin and Houston Grand Opera and has given recitals in many European and American cities and has recorded for the CBC, BBC, RIAS, SFB, Radio Leipzig, and the Norwegian Radio.She retired from the University of Alaska Fairbanks as Professor of Music and Women's Studies. Her CDs include Songs of Fanny Hensel, Edward MacDowell, and Adelbert von Chamisso. She has written for several international encyclopedias and is currently editing "North to the Future: A History of Music in Alaska.
